Today, I had the opportunity to write about our situtation at genpop.org. Many thanks to genpop for giving me the chance to address its audience.
The mission of genpop is admirable:
Take a trip to genpop, and browse its thoughtful commentary.genpop.org is a blog devoted to bringing prison issues to light. It is run by volunteers who want to bring positive change to the American Criminal Justice system for the benefit of both victims and perpetrators.

how terribly heartbreaking. and frustrating. and anger inducing. we are not safe anywhere and the average person just doens't realize it. hopefully, as more speak out, more will understand BEFORE it happens to them.
i've read you're genpop article, your blog and Todd's column and i'm wondering where his mother is in all this. i am the mother of an ex-offender and my experience is that we react in a totally different manner than the fathers. for this reason, i started M.I.S.S.~Mothers of Incarcerated Sons Speak and i'd like to invite Todd's mother to join us at

i've searched for your facebook group but couldn't find it and would like to invite you to join MISS at

and spread the word.
thank you for stepping forward and speaking out and for showing the multi-ethnic faces of those behind bars in your freedom march video.
i'm in Chicago but i am with you in spirit and thought.

Thanks, donnakiser. Todd's mom, Gloria, has been very active on his behalf, and has written a number of the entries here. You're right that moms respond in their own way, and Gloria does a lot to cover things I might miss.
We look foreward to seeing you on FaceBook.
Thanks Bill! I hope to see you post some more on Genpop, too!
